Joe Brainard was a painter, collagist, and writer who played a crucial role in the second generation of the New York School’s poetics. I Remember, his best-known literary work, is a book-length list poem cataloging his early memories. Brainard found this list format so fruitful that he published several sequels, including I Remember More, I Remember Christmas, and More I Remember More.
