Camille Dungy wrote this piece as the fifth of a ten-part series of poems titled “Frequently Asked Questions,” which details her experiences with motherhood. She begins each poem with a question such as, Is it difficult to get away from it all now that you are a mother? Or Do you have plans for her first birthday? In this short and sweet poem, Dungy takes a moment to pause and appreciate the fleeting nature of childhood. This gorgeous broadside reproduction of Dungy’s “Frequently Asked Questions: #5” was printed in limited edition for the 21st Annual Tuolumne Meadows Poetry Festival at Yosemite National Park. Jim Cokas designed and illustrated this broadside; it was printed letterpress by Sandy Tilcock of lone goose press.
