In this poem, Sam Hamill revels in the erotic bloom of an orchid, which leads to awe at the natural world and the love between him and his wife. This broadside rendition of the “The Orchid Flower” was designed and printed by Hamill himself in celebration of the publication of his 2002 collection Dumb Luck, in which this poem was first published. Hamill designed two hundred copies of this broadside using Nellie Bridge’s hand set type.
