In "This is Not a Small Voice," poet, activist, and scholar Sonia Sanchez demonstrates the way that a love poem can celebrate love for and solidarity with a group of people. Sanchez pays tribute to the learning and intellectual curiosity of a new generation of Black youth, who display “a large / love, a passion for kissing learning / on its face.” This voice, she tells us, is “Black Genius,” and it speaks with power.
