Vows (for a gay wedding)

Joseph O. Legaspi offers wedding vows in the form of a poem celebrating the resilient, tender, joy-filled love between himself and his husband. As you watch this recording from Legaspi’s 2019 visit to the Poetry Center or read through the printed version, listen or look for the five statements that begin with “I vow.” Around those five statements, Legaspi weaves together evocative pairs of metaphors that express the depth and abidingness of the newlywed couple’s relationship.
