Emptying the Archives Room
Work began to re-house the Archives collections in a new shelving system over the Winter 2019-2020 semester break. As a first step, teams from the University of Arizona Libraries moved collection items out of the Archives Room in shelf order. The teams then disassembled the existing Archives shelving, reassembled it in the Main Reading Room, and re-shelved Archives collection items in the Reading Room for storage during the installation of the new storage system.
The Library had to close to the public during the installation of new shelving in the Archives room, since all its seating areas in the main Reading Room were temporarily filled with bookshelves.
