Light blue cover of Chicago.

This edition of Chicago, a collaboration between Lewis Warsh and Tom Clark, is one of four special copies issued with blue covers, deckle-edged pages, and hand colored initial capitals; the regular edition features yellow wrappers. In The Angel Hair Anthology (2001) Warsh writes, “Tom Clark and I wrote Chicago in a sweet burst of reciprocal energy. He was the stable family man while I was on the go—somehow the two states of being meshed and created a third place we couldn’t get to except on the page. For a moment it seemed possible to be both free and stable at the same time.” Warsh and Clark dedicated Chicago to poet and dance critic Edwin Denby. This copy is inscribed to poet Larry Fagin with a note that reads “For Larry, Happy 35th birthday—Love Lewis.”
