An image of Diana Ross reflects end over end down the right side of this striking broadside, her gaze as commanding as the voice Jericho Brown gives her in this poem. “I wanted to reflect the sun,” Ross says in the poem, describing her sequined costumes as a beacon of hope and change in the midst of the tragedies and struggle of 1968. The contrast of red-tinged text on pale blue paper reflects the bold persona embodied in the poem.
